FOUNDED IN CHICAGO IN 1996
The Mobile Anesthesiologists Story
Founded in 1996 by Dr. David Barinholtz, Mobile Anesthesiologists set the national standard in office-based anesthesia and perioperative services. We did so by developing a traveling surgical suite that allowed surgeons and proceduralists to provide hospital-level care in their offices, while far surpassing safety standards established in Illinois.
The uniqueness of Mobile’s model is that it’s a full service turnkey platform. Mobile provides all anesthesia-related equipment, supplies, medications, and crash carts, and every anesthesiologist is accompanied by a critical care trained, ACLS-certified nurse. This thoroughness is why Mobile was AAAHC accredited anesthesia practice in 1999, and has successfully received top scores, renewing that accreditation for the maximum possible term eight times, remaining the only medical group, not freestanding facility, to receive AAHC accreditation. It has grown to serve ASCs and pediatric dental offices, welcomed CRNAs to its clinically-led practice, and continues to offer education and expertise freely to partners on best practices and risk mitigation for ambulatory anesthesia and surgery.
Building the future
The past and present
When Mobile Anesthesiologists began in 1996, office-based surgery was considered either a high risk approach to medicine, or the domain of elites seeking discreet care. Mobile’s founder Dr. David Barinholtz saw an opportunity to expand access to quality care, reduce wait times and costs for patients, create new practice opportunities for physicians, and even reduce the burden on already overwhelmed hospitals. However, to do so, it was more than just providing a steady hand for anesthesia. It was bringing the full force of exceptional business and clinical acumen to bear to essentially rewrite the book on surgery in the United States. That approach has helped Mobile thrive, and helped create an entire industry of ambulatory surgery through surgical offices and ASCs.
Not content to stop there, Mobile has continued to expand how it supports its clients and patients. Today, we also cover revenue cycle, procurement and supply chain management, primary source verification and credentialing, payer contracting, marketing, business development, financial leadership, and strategic oversight, all while remaining a top performing AAAHC anesthesia practice.
CHANGING THE INDUSTRY
The future of healthcare
The Mobile model isn’t just the standard setter for the industry, it’s growing with specific regional partners brought on under our MSO, Ambulatory Management Solutions. Through AMS, “The Mobile Way” has grown to include partners across the country. Through these partnerships, we have learned and grown, adding the ASC strength of Noble Anesthesia Partners in Texas and the pediatric dental expertise of M2 Anesthesia in the Pacific Northwest. Finally, we launched an industry journal, The Scope, the first periodical dedicated to ambulatory anesthesia and surgery.
We engage beyond delivering caring anesthesia. We support surgeons and practices with constantly evolving expertise.
